Monte Degli Angeli Sangiovese 2013

Name: Monte Degli Angeli

Variety: Sangiovese

Country: Puglia, Italy

Year: 2013

Price: $8

Bottles Finished: 0 (Tasting Only)

Wine review: The aromas are rich and dark, with lots of black cherry and a hint of balsamic. In the mouth the wine is round and energetic, with cherry and black raspberry fruit complemented by hints of damp earth. If you like Sangiovese-based wines like Chianti or our best-selling Colsanto from Umbria, you'll love this! The wine is ripe, fresh, and fruit-driven with a wonderful dash of earthy complexity at the end. Buy it by the case and drink with pizza, grilled poultry, and pasta.

My review: What a fantastic, intense bouquet! Fierce berry and pepper, quite fruit-driven for an Old-World wine. Clean medium body of blackberry and damp earth. What lowers my rating on this wine is the lack of a finish, seemed the experience would end abruptly with each swallow.

Oracle Pinotage 2014

Name: Oracle

Variety: Pinotage

Country: South Africa

Year: 2014

Price: $8

Bottles Finished: 0 (Tasting Only)

Wine review: An unusual style of Pinotage with complex aromas of black pepper, smoke, tomato, and dark fruit. The palate is packed with ripe mixed berry flavors, making this unoaked red wine a real crowd-pleaser.

My review: Complex bouquet, one I could not fully understand. I could only derive aromas of jam and blackberry with slight nuances of rubber and even blueberry. Upon sipping, a flare was sent up my nostrils. Dense dry body of dark berries, with a finish that left a gritty feeling on my teeth.

Wine review: Brilliant straw color with emerald reflections. Fresh and floral bouquet with a hint of pears, apricots and bananas. Fresh and inviting with bright fruit and an easy drinking style with a pleasing hint of almonds in the aftertaste.

My review
:
A fine brut, one sure to please. With a light and fresh bouquet of wheat, pear, and tea, this brut promises an easy style. On the palate, due to its higher acidity, gives a slight carbonation with wheat flavors.
